The Joy of Connecting with God

God wants us to be in relationship with Him, to know Him, and to connect with Him. So much so that he sent Jesus to take the penalty for our sins so sin could no longer separate us from God.

With sin out of the way, we can experience intimacy and true relationship with God through Jesus. That’s the true meaning of connecting to God—being in relationship with Him.

Psalm 37:4-5 says, “Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act.” ESV

What does connecting with God do?

Connecting with God blesses us. Psalm 119:2 says, “Blessed are those who keep his testimonies, who seek him with their whole heart.”

  • Getting connected with God also:
  • Reminds us of God’s love for us
  • Strengthens our Faith
  • Reminds us of God’s power
  • Encourages us when we want to give up
  • Allows us to serve others
  • Turns our Focus onto God instead of Ourselves
  • Humbles us

How can I get close to God and hear his voice?

Another benefit of connecting to God is hearing his voice. Reading the Bible, praying, and seeking godly counsel from spiritual mentors all help you get close to God so you can hear His voice.

The Bible is full of God’s wisdom and counsel on how to live our daily lives.

Scripture guides us by telling us what God thinks about every facet of our lives—relationships, family, work, money, finances, church, school, government, etc.Author NameTweet

When it comes to applying this to our own lives, we must stay connected to God so we can hear his voice and know what to do when making decisions. Through the 7 ways to connect to God below (and others), we ready our hearts and minds to hear God’s voice.

How can I deepen my connection with God?

The key to connecting with God every day is looking for Him and praying that He would use you to do His will.

When our connection with God deepens, it’s because we become less and God becomes more. Putting God at the center of our lives and our decisions strengthens our connection with God.

Also, if we stay connected to God, over time, our connection with God will deepen. Like with human relationships, quality time spent together builds stronger relationships.

How much time are you spending with God daily now? Even as a busy young professional or adult, you can find time to spend with God every day. Sometimes, you just have to be creative. 🙂
